Description
Across classrooms worldwide, educators are grappling with escalating behavioral and social challenges, rising student disengagement, and the personal toll of burnout. At the same time, administrators and instructional leaders are left wondering why so many students are falling short of expected academic progress, particularly in language development. What is driving this shift in our youth today? While many point to the trauma and adversity students bring into the classroom, the pressing question remains: What concrete steps can we take to help these students not just survive, but truly thrive?

Discover, Connect, Respond is an essential guide to supporting learners from challenging backgrounds, particularly our culturally and linguistically diverse students. Elise White Diaz blends storytelling, actionable strategies, and research-backed insights to provide educators with the tools they need to:
  • Foster trust with hard-to-reach students
  • Build resilience from challenges
  • Create inclusive, trauma-sensitive classrooms where every student thrives
Whether you’re a teacher, administrator, or support staff, Discover, Connect, Respond empowers you to nurture resilience, connection, and accomplishment in every learner—while caring for your own well-being.
Discover the power of connection. Transform the way you teach.
